Old Farm to next Generation Farming........
I knew that coming back to the farm was where I wanted to be. After serving in the United States Navy I returned home. With a little match making from my sister and brother-in-law, I fell in love with the neighbor boy. Our first cow was bought in 2008. From there we have continued to grow our herd. We knew that building a foundation to grow our farm on, was needed.
As Jay and I have no children we knew that keeping the family farm we would need those in the next generation to be a part of our vision. We are blessed with nieces and nephews who have shown a passion in preserving and continuing in agriculture.
We continue to support community agriculture programs in our area. We believe that providing the next generation with the resources and learning they too can carry on the visions of providing locally grown and produced products to our community.
We pride ourselves in growing our herd from start to finish to provide a local product. This is done by building a herd through research and sustainability. Jay works with the herd each day knowing about his cows helps him select his calves that will provide the highest yield. The food that is provided to our animals is provided from our farm or local farms. Jay focuses on the nutrition that is needed for the herd to not only keep our cows healthy but also our finishing lot. The same goes with our swine production. From the soil to the plate we pride ourselves in knowing that our animals will provide a safe and nutritious product.
